The sheet 160 – Cassino of the geological map of Italy at the scale 1: 100,000, second edition (1997), attributes the “Monte d’Oro” to DOGGER – NEOCOMIANO (C³ – G⁵) INTERNAL NERIDIC FACIES, characterized by limestone regularly stratified crypto and microcrystalline, ranging in colour from white to brown, with irregular embedded limestone oolitic and detrital rounded fragments and alternations of dolomite grey or hazel.
